1965 Harley Davidson FLH Panhead in Eastpointe, MI

The 1965 Harley FLY was the last year of the Panhead motorcycle, so it is a mix of the new with a link to the ?old Days?, and is among the most collectible of the Big Twins. Harley had been making Panheads for 18 years. Many people believe the 65 Panhead was the very best of the pans. In 1965 Harley went away from 6 volt systems & entered the modern age with the 12 voltPower. In 1965 Harley entered a new era. Not only was the 1965 Harley FLH a Big Twin with full suspension, Harley also addressed the foreign competition with the addition of an Electric Starter. As of 1965 anyone strong enough to balance an 800 pound motorcycle could ride one without fighting the 1200cc engine, although the kick-start remained should you prefer. The FLH was Harley?s first truly modern touring bike, fully capable of taking the rider, passenger & luggage on very long journeys in comfort & style. The fuel tank was enlarged to an enormous five gallons capacity.
